"C" is for cookie.... (?)

While I am a fan of Cookie Monster, that's not the "C" I'm thinking of.

I'm thinking of vitamin C and its powerful properties.

Many people ask me about detoxification. I thought I would address one way to detoxify efficiently and effectively... while remaining noninvasive!!

Vitamin C: What it is. Why it's important. How to use it for detoxification. How to use it to maintain health and build immunity.

What is Vitamin-C? Vitamin C is also known as ascorbic acid; it is the manufacturer of collagen - that which holds the body together.

Why is it important to you? There are so many reasons! Since vitamin C makes collagen it is crucial for cartilage, tissue, ligaments, tendons, wound repair, and gums. On top of that, it is valued for immune function, nerve transmitting, and is an antioxidant.

How do I use it for detoxification? I'm so glad you asked... this is the precious jewel of this month's blog. Using vitamin-C for a detoxification is simple, quick, and effective, not to mention cheap.
* Here's what you need: POWDERED mineral ASCORBATE C (without sodium - I hear it tastes terrible) -- the one I bought reads "Buffered C Crystals: Calcium Ascorbate Acid-Free"
* Here's what you need to do: Every 15 minutes take about 1/2 teaspoon of the powder (mixed with juice to avoid the bad taste) - this 1/2 teaspoon will probably be between 1800 and 2500 mg. Continue taking until you have watery diarrhea.

How do I use it to maintain health & build immunity? You want to do this flush weekly if your immune system is weak or if you've been exposed to a lot of toxins. Do it for a couple of months, taking 2,000 to 3,000 mg on the days you're not flushing. This will both build your immune system and help detoxify your system of toxins.

The flush will help you find your saturation point. Once you know this (say it's 50,000 mg), you can make a decision for your daily intake (about half - say, 25,000 mg). This will increase while your body builds up its vitamin C needs. Then, it will gradually decrease!

Do a flush at the first sign of a cold or flu.

Did You Know?

*
Humans are the only animals that don't produce their own vitamin C

* Vitamin C can help you detoxify environmental toxins, heavy metals in your body (mercury!!!!), and bad bacteria

* Stress of any kind causes vitamin C to be excreted in urine, meaning it needs to be replenished

* Vitamin C in food is destroyed when exposed to air - this is the difference between a fresh cut fruit or vegetable and one that's already been cut and exposed. For example, cantaloupe will lose 35 % of its vitamin C after being sliced (within 24 hours). Cucumbers, in less than three hours, will lose approximately 45 % of its vitamin C once sliced.

Vitamin C is associated with:
~~ reducing cancer rates
~~ boosting immunity
~~ adrenal gland hormone health
~~ protecting against and detoxifying from pollution and cigarette smoke
~~ speeding up wound repair
~~ reducing the risk of developing cataracts
~~ longer life expectancy

Once you do a flush, you'll realize how much vitamin C you really need. If you're like me, you may be surprised that your breaking point is 14,000 mg!!! Once you see this, you'll realize that the 186 mg of vitamin C you get from kale (3 1/2 oz) or 50 mg you get from oranges (3 1/2 oz) is really not going to make a dent in this deficit. Remember... you do not make vitamin C on your own. So put it in there....

And be well.
